Hygiene Development East Kenya : Production

On-going project activities:

Due to lack of well-developed structures and income-generation activities, a girl from a poor family background in Kenya normally misses school for an average of 3-5 days/month during the days when she has her menses.
As well, 75% of the women are economically vulnerable and have financial difficulties in accessing the available conventional pads in the market due to competing needs. At around the same period these vulnerable women shy away from certain social engagements/duties and in most times family goes without any food as they are the breadwinners in their households.

Project Aim:

Produce quality and competitive sanitary pads for the less advantaged young girls and mothers as well as create income generation opportunities for the rural households.
